Update:

Fall is in the air. My roses are blooming off the hook! Huge blooms of color on ever plant. There are still bees busy working.

I am one of them. I started a painting yesterday. This time on a flat surface with oil paint. The last painting was on a round surface with egg tempera. It is kind of making me paint weird. Painting in an egg tempera method with oil paint. Painting on a flat board after a globe reminds me of a game we played as kids, called airplane.
A big kid would hold your ankle in one hand and wrist in the other then spin in a circle. Till you spun in the air like an airplane. Then let go...you would tumble across the lawn, [this was also how we played Statues, where after you landed you had to freeze in a pose and when you were tapped had to 'come to life' and act out whatever your statue was] , try walking after that...that is what painting on the flat surface feels like after a globe.

Lately really good people I know have been popping up in my life like flowers blooming in October. Giving me good advice, encouragement and showing me the colors I have been missing. So thank you to the people who tell dumb jokes, and teach with love, to those who lead by example and do things that inspire me, because I am too lame to do them myself! You make me feel like maybe, just maybe.....
well...we don't need to get that sappy around here!
But, you have all made it easier for me to push Onward....
thanks!

TBIH in DC

We took a day trip to DC this past weekend, I took a bunch of photos. We spent a good deal of the day at the Lincoln Memorial. It was very moving. Sitting on the steps of the Lincoln is one of my two favorite sitting steps ever. The other, are the steps in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY. It was a lovely Fall day. I feel refreshed and renewed!

Time for some upper case letters: ONWARD!!

I have been going back to Brooklyn each Fall since I left NY. This year I won't be able to make the trip. I miss my city, but most of all I miss Judy. She has been posting Judy songs on her Blog http://www.badadvice.typepad.com/
for a few weeks now. So, here is our song for Judy.

Have a great weekend!

bringing things into focus...

I have a project I have been working on for months. It is my second 100 Dresses project. Or I should say, it is The Hundred Dresses Projects second work in progress. I haven't been working on it for a while, because I got stumped at a certain point and just didn't know where to go with it.

Yesterday I went on a fact finding mission, in search of an answer. Good places for these fact finding missions for me are: Re-sale shops, Museums, antique shops, craft stores and nature. When I lived in Brooklyn I lived across the street from the worlds largest resale shop, called Domsies. It no longer exsits. But this place was a gold mine for ideas and artistic stimulation as well as crazy cool clothing (even if they were old and dirty). On one side of the huge building you could search the bins. Trucks would pull up to the loading dock and dump tons (literaly) of used clothes into cages and laundry bins. It was an agressive atmosphere, 3rd worldish. You really had to be tuff to fight for stuff out of the bins. I liked to go and see what kinds of colors attacted my eye, what patterns or textures. I thought of it like a work out for my artistic senciblities.

The other side of the store was set up like a typical Salvation Army, only much bigger and with way cooler stuff (the benifit of shopping on this side was the clothes were washed and hung on hanger, but they cost a bit more). Again, I didn't have to buy stuff, it was about zoneing in on what I really was attracted to. But I did have a colection of cool clothes as a side effect of these exercises.
Yesterday, I went to a big craft store, for my fact finding mission. What I can tell you is, things are less fuzzy, almost in focus, like the photo above, after my visit. I am going to work on the project today. Nothing to show yet, but progress is being made.

onward with a whisper..slowly creaping towards my goal...a solution to The 100 Dresses delema.

Getting stuff done...

Frankenstein is my number one helper. Here he sits keeping me company while I do some computer biz.
We are re grouping and getting all our loose ends and domestic chores finished. Tomorrow we paint!...well I'll do the painting, but I know my little Chug bud will be there for moral support.

onward....still in lower case mode.
