I have a few stumps out on the patio, I plan on sanding them down and finishing. Yesterday I flipped one of them over and found this lovely patch of red and rusty colored junk. I don't know if it is eggs or poop or mold or what! 
It must be some sort of caviar to some critter. Because by the next morning all the bright red balls were gone. I tried to look it up but I didn't find anything. All I can say is, nature is neat!
